Things To Do

Jar and I realized today that we aren't very creative when it comes to thinking of things to do on the weekend. With both of us "just" working (no school- YEAH!), we have most of our weekends free to do fun things together or with our pals but almost every weekend we seem to say to each other, "What should we do?" Then we talk about the usual things we've already done and end up doing mostly nothin. Anyway...if you have an idea or ideas that you'd like to do and would like to share with us....PLEASE DO!

I'm starting a list and we're gonna do something every weekend. The only catch is they can't be too expensive....because, well....we are cheap people! Thanks in advance for you creativeness!

Me and Don were just having this conversation yesterday. We actually went and saw the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile yesterday. The girls got a whistle and everything :) Don says to go online and google things in the community and go do them. Like hunting down the Weiner Mobile :) LOVE YOU

That one above is so funny. Maybe we should go and start doing that food storage night that we talked about once. No time like now to get prepared!

Murray Family Farms has some fun cheap tours/things to do. You can milk a cow for $.50 and go on the tour of the farmhouse for $1.50. I know they also have a tractor/hayride. In the spring they have a few community fair type things you can get in for pretty cheap to see. I don't know if they do it there, but here at a farm you can pick your own fresh fruit when it's in season for pretty cheap. That would be coming up for this spring/summer for you there.

Do you have a balcony that gets good sun or know a friend who does you could plant a container garden (in pots)? Or see if there is a community garden you can get land for free or cheap to start your own little garden.

You can also check the event calendars with local publications like the SLTrib. and DN for free events and look at the library's web site for events happening on the weekend (library ones are almost always free).

You can also find places to visit and see at your local CVB (Salt Lake Convention Visitors Bureau). Some cost $ but others are free places to visit and you can also find out about conventions coming to the area that might have exhibits open to the public.

Many museums have free days one day a month when normally you have to pay. I don't know if it falls on the weekend or not - you'll need to call the venues to find out if they do this. They do this to make their venue accessible to those with less $ like us.

Look up your local parks & recreation office too. They usually have intramural sports you can do and a lot of times have classes you can take (take one together or on your own), pools you can swim in, equipment you can use at community owned facilities, etc.

Even though you aren't students any more you can always check to see if there are free events going on around campus (art shows, student exhibits, etc.) to go see/do.

I have found a key thing is to plan in advance and not wait until the weekend to find something to do otherwise we end up bumming around the house too (which lately has been most of the time).

I was going to make some suggestions but the great and lovely wifey got to them first. Plus mine were probably not appropriate anyway.
