Ouch- Cuttin' into Jarad

Just a week after Jarad started his new job, and right in the middle of packing up to move, Jarad had alot of pain and went to the doctor and found out he had a hernia and would need surgery at some point to repair it. Since we were moving in a week, we decided to wait until after the move to schedule the surgery.

But...the pain was relentless and after talking to a surgery center- they suggested going to the ER where he would probably be admitted and have surgery. So...I drove down with my in-laws and we to the ER we went...

Jarad in the ER- dutifully listening to the nurse about what he needed to do.

Since it wasn't an "emergency" we were sent home. Let ms just say that I dislike the ER- you spend many (too many) hours and get nothing but a very large bill!

Luckily (well sort of), the next morning the surgery center called and said the surgeon wanted to see him in a few hours and that his surgery was scheduled for the next day because it was an emergency. So we went to the doctor and got ready for an early morning surgery.

Jarad during his surgery pre-op- gotta made sure he is healthy enough for surgery.

Rock on! Ready to get sliced. Good luck babe!

After they wheeled him away (which is kinda scary- even though I knew it was a very routine surgery and had very little risk- it is still nerve racking to watch your love wheeled away like that!), I went and fell asleep in the waiting room and waited for the surgeon to come tell me how it went. After getting the report from the doctor that the hernia was worse than they thought but everything went well, I went and got his pain meds in the hospital pharmacy. Then I was able to go back to recovery to be with Jarad.

Very groggy...trying to wake up from the anesthesia and really in alot of pain. SAD! He slept alot, ate a little and took some meds for the pain but they just weren't enough. Since he was still in alot of pain and couldn't even stand up on his own, the doctor suggested he be admitted and stay the night to make sure he was comfortable.

Finally admitted and hooked up to the morphine...so much better! Once the pain had subsided, Jarad was able to rest and woke up feeling so much better. So after about 5 hours-Jarad was feeling better and really didn't want to spend the night in the hospital so they checked with the doctor and allowed him to go home to recover.

Jarad & I relaxing at home- well...we ended up staying at my parent's house because our condo wasn't finished being painted and has a large set of stairs. So resting at "home" for now.

We are so grateful for all our family that helped us, visited, and supported us during this crazy time!

Heritage Square

We went on an adventure to Heritage Square so we could see what was there and ride the Alpine Slide. It was a very hot day but we had tons of fun! I was a bit nervous about the slide so I went on the "slow" side the first time around but wanted a little more wind in my hair so took the fast track the second time around. Jarad has a need for speed and took the fast track both times down.

Us- getting ready to go on the slide!

We are going into town...

Jarad got into a bit of trouble...

YEE-HAW!!! It was so fun.

Jarad- always behind the camera :)

A Death in the Family

For some time now, our Piper has been swimming less, eating less and spending more time on his side. One day however, he did not wake up and move when we tapped on the glass. Rest in peace Piper!

The side float

Enjoy the ride Piper!

Dog VS Vacuum

In the past few months, we've figured out that Sadie isn't exactly fond of the vacuum. So we wanted to record it and Jarad thinks that we should send it into America's Funniest Home Videos. Sadie thinks she is tough but she is a big chicken! (I know it is a little bit cruel...but it was just so funny!)

Sent from Above!

We recently found out that one of our favorite restaurants in Salt Lake is now in Denver! We were down there getting some pictures taken and decided to see if it was for real...and it was!!!

YUM YUM YUM!!! Cafe Rio!!!
We got our traditional- a pork burrito for Jarad and a chicken salad for me.

Steamboat Springs

Over the 4th of July weekend, Jarad and my sister Lindsey ran a half-marathon in Steamboat Springs. We drove up Friday night and stayed in a semi-scary hotel.

On the drive up, we stopped and got Olive Garden to go...these kids gotta carb load!

Jar & Linds- trying to connect to the Internet before bed.

In our room was a picture of a previous marathon held in Steamboat.

Here they are- ready to run- Ipods, goo's and water in hand.

And they're off!

I drove the route and met them at a few places along the way.

It was beautiful area and I got to enjoy the scenery while I waited for them to run by me.

Sadie tagged along too! She was so great to keep me company. It was so funny...every time Jarad ran by, Sadie would run after him and then whimper as he kept running and I had to pull her back.

Runnin' woman- seriously, 13.1 miles is a long way!

Runnin' Man- going strong

Jarad crosses the finish line- 2hrs 31 mins. Great job babe!

Lindsey running into the finish! Great job! Way to accomplish your goal!!

They did it! Way to go you guys!

Lindsey biffed it during the race and scrapped up her arm. War wounds to prove your awesomeness!

Jarad and I -hot springs love!

This is a picture of the hot springs area.

Sadie had to put her head out the window to feel the mountain air! She is so funny.

California- Swimming & Sillyness!

We also went to the pool and the kids love the water!

Jordan liked the kiddie pool the best and just splashed ans splashed!

Audrey was such a fish and loved the put her head under water and show me how she could "swim"

David had a sweet shirt swim thing...he doesn't like the sun too much. But he did do a sweet dive for us all to see.

Melanie and Audrey enjoying the sun.

On the day I was going home, I wanted to take some more pictures. So I pulled out the camera and...

Jordan had to bust out his camera too.

The kids love taking pictures with Mimi's (that's me) camera.

So, we took a bunch of silly pictures together. This is one of my favorites.

David, Melanie, Audrey & Jordan- I LOVE THEM!

Audrey, Aunt Mimi, and Jordan- I wish they lived closer!

On the way to the airport (and maybe another time or two during the week) we had to stop at In & Out- YUMMMM!!!

I think they lace their burgers with something cause they are SO good!

Thanks David & Mel for a great visit! Can't wait to see you all soon! Love you!
